DROOD is the first Persian winery in the world. Founded in 2021 the unique company, that is based in Gemla (Sweden) produces real Persian drinks. How? Let's start from the beginning.

Meet our founder and winemaker…

Why we started DROOD?

We import all of our grapes directly from our Persian vineyards.

We use 100% indigenous Iranian grape varieties!

  • Unique varieties

    We use ancient native varieties from Persia, that have been growing hundrents of years in the vineyards located in the South-Western parts of the country. They are ungrafted, indigenous to the area and many generations of winemakers have been cultivating them.

  • Handcrafted in Sweden

    Our winery is located in Sweden.Why Sweden? Because Iran has interesting laws when it comes to alcohol production, but also because our winemaker is based in Växjö in Southern Sweden.

  • Ancient Persian winemaking

    We import all our grapes directly from selected vineyards in Iran. Did you know the country has a history of winemaking that dates back more than 7000 years?

A bit more information about our vineyards:

The Zagros Mountains are located in South-Western Iran. This mountain range has a total length of 1,600 km and reaches up to Iraq and Turkey.  In 1968 Scientists found traditional winemaker’s clay jars. Those jars date back to the Neolithic period more than 7,000 years ago, and provide the first scientific proof of the ancient nature of Iranian winemaking history. We import all grapes directly from the farmers of the Zagros Mountain region, selecting only premium grapes.
